Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Project Engineer to join a leading organisation delivering complex defence vehicle programs. This role will see you take ownership of engineering work packages across the full project lifecycle, supporting the development, production and sustainment of advanced capability solutions.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in ensuring engineering deliverables are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory, customer, and project requirements.

About the Role

As a Project Engineer / Engineering Work Package Manager, you will be responsible for leading the planning, execution and delivery of mechanical engineering work packages while coordinating technical activities across a range of stakeholders. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and project teams to deliver critical outcomes on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution and delivery of mechanical engineering work packages.
  • Develop, review and approve mechanical designs, technical documentation, drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure successful system integration.
  • Manage engineering changes, configuration management and technical risks throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support design reviews, verification and validation activities, testing and qualification programs.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain and quality teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with defence standards, safety requirements and quality management systems.
  • Provide technical oversight to suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor engineering progress, schedules, costs and technical performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, manufacturability and engineering excellence.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' engineering experience, including experience in project engineering.
  • Experience within automotive, heavy vehicle or complex manufacturing environments.
  • Strong background in mechanical design, product development and systems integration.
  • Experience supporting verification, validation, testing and qualification activities.
  • Demonstrated capability managing engineering changes, technical risk and configuration management.
  • Understanding of project planning, scheduling, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project (highly desirable).
  • Australian Citizenship (Baseline Security Clearance advantageous).
