Gas Compression Field Technician - Permanent Position

Finning, the world’s largest Caterpillar dealer, is expanding its field service team in Alberta and British Columbia. We’re hiring 50 Gas Compression Field Technicians to support our expanding operations. Must have CAT G3600 experience and 2+ years as a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Field‑level diagnosis and execution of repairs on Caterpillar gas and diesel engines.
• Perform large‑scale overhauls and rebuilds, including component replacements.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain clear customer communication.
• Operate and maintain a service truck, traveling throughout Alberta and Northern BC.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification (Millwright and Automotive accepted).
• Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful driver abstract.
• Minimum two years experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic.
• Prior CAT general line experience, troubleshooting skills, and understanding of CAT engine and powertrain components.
• Two years experience on gas engines and compressors.
• Two years experience operating a service truck.
• Completion, or ongoing completion, of Finning S‑level courses.
• Basic computer skills and strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities.
