About Zen Educate
Zen Educate is a certified B Corp transforming how schools and educators connect. We provide a digital staffing platform that matches teachers, teaching assistants, special education support staff, substitute and supply teachers, early years educators, and other school staff with schools that need them. We charge roughly half the typical agency fee, helping educators earn more and schools save money.
We enable school leaders to search, book, and manage staff in real time with visibility and control over spend and compliance. We are growing our New Business team and seek salespeople who can win new schools and get them up and running with Zen.
What the role looks like day-to-day
This is a role focused on new business growth. As an Account Executive, you will focus on two areas: winning new schools and getting them fully up and running on Zen. Typical activities include:
- Run discovery calls with Headteachers about moving their supply spend to Zen.
- Visit schools to demo the Zen+ platform and demonstrate time and cost savings.
- Onboard new schools and guide them through initial steps with Zen.
- Check in with recently signed schools to ensure they can go fully live.
- Conduct targeted outreach to a shortlist of high-priority regional schools.
- Share feedback with Product on what schools value and where to improve.
It's fast-paced, hands-on, and involves shaping company growth.
Who you are
You don’t need prior education sector experience; we’ll teach you. You’ll thrive if you are:
- A natural closer who turns conversations into signed partnerships.
- Experienced in B2B or SaaS sales, ideally in a closing role.
- Enjoys phone outreach, creative outreach, and building genuine connections.
- Strategic and commercially minded, with both mission and numeric awareness.
- Confident presenting to senior decision-makers and managing multiple stakeholders.
- A self-starter who values autonomy but collaborates when needed.
- Passionate about doing work that matters.
What you might like
- You want to combine commercial impact with a meaningful mission.
- You like selling products that improve outcomes for people.
- You enjoy the buzz of winning new business and seeing results.
- You thrive in fast-paced, scaling environments where improvement is ongoing.
What you might not enjoy
- You prefer a highly structured corporate environment with set processes.
- You’re not comfortable leading sales conversations face-to-face and on the phone.
- You’d rather manage long-term accounts than win new ones.
- You want every week to look the same; this role evolves constantly.
What’s in it for you
- Competitive salary plus uncapped commission and equity.
- 25 days holiday plus UK public holidays.
- 1:1 coaching and professional development support.
- Life and health insurance, Cycle to Work Scheme, Electric Car Scheme.
- Meaningful work: every school onboarded saves money that goes back into classrooms.
How we hire
We move quickly and keep things simple:
- Intro chat with our recruiter.
- Sales interview focusing on discovery, objection handling, and closing.
- Practical task and role-play to demonstrate how you’d run a realistic school meeting.
- Culture chat with the wider team to ensure a good fit.
- If it’s a yes, you’ll hear back promptly.
Diversity & Inclusion
We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We value equal access to career development opportunities and encourage applications from BAME candidates. If you require reasonable adjustments during the interview process, please let us know.
Location and eligibility
This role is based full-time at our Sunderland or Newcastle office and requires onsite attendance five days per week during term time. We encourage applicants who live locally or plan to relocate.
