About the Role
This is a FIFO role on a 2‑weeks‑on, 2‑weeks‑off roster at Barrow Island for an oil and gas operator. The Instrument Engineer will provide on‑site instrumentation engineering support, ensuring the integrity, reliability, and performance of instrumented systems. The role works within a multidisciplinary team, partnering with operations, maintenance and reliability teams to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide instrumentation engineering support to maintain safe and reliable operations.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and support effective technical solutions.
- Investigate failures and implement reliability improvements.
- Manage instrumentation changes and upgrades through approved processes.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to optimise performance.
- Provide technical expertise for instrumentation, control and safety systems.
- Support maintenance, testing, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
Ideal Candidate Criteria
- Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Systems Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience providing instrumentation engineering support in industrial, manufacturing, processing or heavy‑industry environments.
- Strong understanding of field instrumentation, control systems, analyzers and safety systems.
- Experience with troubleshooting, fault‑finding, maintenance support and improving equipment reliability.
- Familiarity with engineering standards, compliance requirements and change‑management processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
