Job Description

We are seeking a Process Engineer – Utilities to join the Maintenance, Utilities & Operations (M2U) team at our Broadmeadows manufacturing site. This role is key to ensuring the reliable, safe, and cGMP‑compliant supply of utilities that support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the ordering, receipt, processing and sampling of bulk chemicals prior to release to the Manufacturing Facilities.
  • Flexibility to support lunch and leave coverage for bulk chemical Operators.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of site utilities to ensure availability, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Investigate utilities plant failures and operating incidents; identify root causes and implement sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Support routine maintenance, shutdown activities, and contractor supervision.
  • Review plant performance, maintenance history, energy and waste usage, and recommend improvement initiatives.
  • Execute and support deviations, CAPAs, and change controls related to utilities systems.
  • Support commissioning and qualification of new or upgraded utilities equipment.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, procedures, and technical briefs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support utilities‑related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing and operations teams as required.
  • Participate in utilities shift support and operational training, as agreed.

Your Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with pharmaceutical utilities systems (Bulk Chemicals, HVAC, WFI, PW, pure steam, critical gases).
  • Demonstrated understanding of cGMP requirements in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • High commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.

Desirable Experience

  • Utilities control systems (e.g., Siemens PCS 7).
  • Utilities plant operation or maintenance.
  • Energy efficiency or waste reduction initiatives.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems.
