Shelford Campus

Opening in 2027 in the heart of Caulfield, Shelford Campus will be Caulfield Grammar School’s newest Junior School. The campus will initially offer exceptional education for students in Prep and Years 4–6, before growing into a full Prep to Year 6 Junior School.This represents a once‑in‑a‑career opportunity for a founding teaching team to shape the culture and community from the groundup, delivering high‑impact learning in an outstandingpurpose‑designed environment.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire creativity and helpestablish an exceptional Performing Arts program at our newShelford Campus.

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Campus, the Junior SchoolPerforming Arts Teacher will work collaboratively with classroomteachers to deliver a contemporary and engaging Performing Artsprogram that reflects the School's values and commitment toexcellence. A key aspect of the role will be partnering withclassroom teachers to make authentic connections between thePerforming Arts and the English curriculum, enriching students'learning through drama, storytelling and performance.

Working with students from Prep to Year 6, you will create richlearning experiences across dance, drama and performance thatfoster creativity, confidence, collaboration and self-expression.Through a dynamic curriculum, you will nurture students' artistictalents while building their performance skills and love of theperforming arts.

As a founding member of the Shelford Campus team, you will playa key role in shaping a vibrant culture of performance by directingcampus productions, plays, concerts and musical that bring ourcommunity together and create a culture where the arts are valuedas an integral part of every child's education.

This part‑time opportunity offers potential for additional hoursin the future, aligned with the ongoing growth and development ofthe campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver an engaging Performing Arts programacross the Junior School, promoting creativity, skilldevelopment and performance confidence.
• Design and implement sequential learning experiencesaligned to curriculum requirements, incorporating contemporaryand inquiry‑based teaching practices.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environmentthat encourages creative expression, collaboration and studentvoice.
• Assess and monitor student learning, providing timely andmeaningful feedback to support growth and development.
• Differentiate teaching to meet the diverse needs, abilitiesand backgrounds of all students.
• Plan, direct and coordinate performances, productions andevents that showcase Performing Arts across the School.
• Collaborate with teachers and learning leaders to integratePerforming Arts across the curriculum and enhance studentlearning experiences.
• Maintain and manage Performing Arts resources, equipmentand learning spaces to support safe and effectiveteaching.
• Actively contribute to professional learning, collaborationand continuous improvement initiatives within the School.
• Demonstrate active involvement in School life, includingco‑curricular opportunities where appropriate.
• Uphold the School’s commitment to Child Safety, ensuringthe wellbeing, safety and dignity of all students at alltimes.
• Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values andbehaviours.

Skills and Qualifications

• Teaching qualifications with a preference for a specialisation inPerforming Arts, Music, Dance or Drama .
• Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)registration.
• First Aid – Level 2 and Anaphylaxis qualifications (orwillingness to obtain).
• Demonstrated experience teaching Performing Arts in aprimary or junior school setting.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum and contemporary PerformingArts teaching practices.
• Proven ability to design and deliver engaging,differentiated learning programs that support diverselearners.
• Proven experiencedirecting plays, musical and performances in Junior Schoolsettings.
• Experience delivering creative, performance‑based andinquiry‑driven learning experiences.
• Highly developed communication, organisational and timemanagement skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to buildpositive relationships with students, staff and the widerschool community.
• Commitment to professional learning, reflective practiceand continuous improvement.
• A passion for Performing Arts education and fosteringcreativity and confidence in young learners.
