Position Summary
The Reliability and Maintenance Technician ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems in a highly regulated medical industry environment. The role combines hands‑on maintenance expertise with proactive reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement focus, supporting operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic equipment issues.
- Conduct equipment inspections and condition monitoring to identify potential failures before they impact production.
- Support reliability initiatives through root‑cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
- Complete maintenance work orders and maintain detailed maintenance and compliance documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with quality systems, standard operating procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
- Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, upgrades, and validation activities as required.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and recommend solutions to enhance uptime, safety, and efficiency.
- Adhere to all WHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance activities as required.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and provide timely troubleshooting and resolution.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience performing maintenance within a manufacturing, industrial, processing, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience working with maintenance management systems and completing detailed maintenance records and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a structured quality and compliance framework.
- Strong commitment to WHS requirements and safe work practices.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Growth mindset with a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing technologies and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with QMS, GMP, ISO standards, or similar compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting reliability‑centered maintenance, predictive maintenance, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with PCs, computer hardware, electronics, and automated equipment systems.
- Experience working with PLC‑controlled equipment and automation systems.
- Disconnect/Reconnect electrical license (desirable).
- Knowledge of condition‑monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis, thermography, or related predictive maintenance practices.
