About the Role
Brookfield Renewable is looking for an Accountant who enjoys a fastâpaced environment and can multiâtask in an Accounting department. Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, you are accountable for all aspects of the monthly accounting cycle, ensuring an accurate financial close within tight deadlines, and supporting the preparation of the financial reports for various sites under the Solar Platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries as part of the monthly, quarterly and annual close process
- Prepare journal entries in Fixed Asset Module for Solar segment
- Review and maintain monthly general ledger accounts and reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial statements
- Maintain Lend Lease payments database for Solar segment and ensure all supporting lease agreements are retained
- Take ownership of assigned companies and work with senior accountants and manager on internal data requests
- Support the preparation of financial and management reports for Solar assets
- Complete SOX/internal control documentation for assigned area of work
- Coordinate with internal departments and support preparation of quarterly variance analysis
- Participate in special projects as needed within the department, within a broader finance environment and/or crossâfunctionally
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Bachelorâs Degree required (Accounting concentration preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
- Working towards or completion of an accounting designation (CPA/CA)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to think outside the box, and embrace a dynamic, complex, fastâpaced, and deadlineâdriven environment
- Effective project management skills; able to prioritize multiple tasks
- Call on past experiences, industry trends and new technology to identify opportunities to improve and streamline processes
- Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Selfâmotivated and able to work independently
- Able to work overtime hours during peak periods as required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP, with the ability to learn new software
- Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls (specific SOX experience is considered an asset)
- Experience in publicly traded companies preferred
Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfieldâs identity. This position requires the employee to be onâsite for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively. We will reassess the approach on a as needed basis.
