Senior Accountant

About the role

As an Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting, taxation, and advisory services to a diverse client portfolio. You will analyse financial information, prepare accurate financial reports, and assist clients in managing their financial obligations and achieving their business goals. This role encompasses the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, management reports, and the provision of practical business and taxation advice.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare clear, accurate, and well-documented working papers to support all work performed.
• Develop an understanding of clients’ businesses, industries, and operating environments to provide informed advice and support.
• Mentor and support graduates and junior team members, contributing to their professional development.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with current accounting standards, legislative requirements, and reporting obligations.
• Assist in the preparation of client meeting materials and support Partners in client engagements.
• Identify, research, and assist in resolving complex accounting and taxation matters.
• Prepare and analyse management accounting reports, providing meaningful insights to clients.
• Prepare income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
• Provide advice across a range of taxation matters, including GST, Capital Gains Tax (CGT), and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT).
• Deliver general business advisory services and practical support to a broad range of clients.

Qualifications

• Fluent in preparation of Financial Statements using Xero software
• Strong Communication Skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Committed to continuing professional development
• Business / Commerce degree with Accounting Major
• On a pathway to completion of Chartered Tax Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant studies
• Ability to use accounting software including:
  • Xero
  • MYOB
  • Quickbooks
  • Agrimaster
  • Figured
  • CashPeek
• Commitment to work in an open plan layout
• Focus on productivity and continuous improvement in processes
