Substitute Teacher

Position Summary

The On-Call Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher while maintaining a safe, engaging, and productive learning environment. Assignments may vary by grade level and subject area based on school needs.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.
• Foster a positive, respectful classroom culture.
• Supervise students throughout the instructional day.
• Maintain accurate attendance and classroom records.
• Communicate effectively with school administrators and staff.
• Follow all school policies and emergency procedures.
• Leave detailed notes regarding the day's activities and student progress.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
• Previous classroom or substitute teaching experience
• Ability to successfully pass all required background screenings
• Strong communication and classroom management skills

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree
• Alabama Substitute Teacher Certification (if applicable)

Schedule

• On-call, as needed
• School hours generally between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
• Flexible scheduling based on your availability

Compensation

• Competitive daily rate based on qualifications and experience.
