Overview

The Director, IS Transfer Agency and Workflow Systems Development is accountable for the development, modernization, and support of Fidelity Investment Canada Transfer Agency systems (AXIS, NEXUS) and supporting workflow applications.

The role is a flexible hybrid position with primary location at 483 Bay Street, Toronto until late 2026, after which the office will move to 3 Robert Speck Parkway, Mississauga.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a group of managers and scrum teams responsible for development.
  • Manage department budgets, resourcing capacity, and vendor relationships.
  • Create strategic plans, technology and process improvement roadmaps, and oversee progress.
  • Incorporate AI, automation, and emerging technologies into strategic roadmaps and execution plans to improve efficiency, scalability, and decision‑making.
  • Participate in IS division strategic planning and implementation of new technologies, working closely with IS Directors & Managers and Business Partners to align technology services with business goals.
  • Ensure adoption of modern engineering practices (e.g., automation, DevOps, secure‑by‑design) across teams.
  • Oversee and lead continuous improvements of teams' development and production support processes, tracking adherence to defined KPIs and departmental, IS and organizational goals.
  • Maintain diligent oversight of project advancements, teams’ responses to production incidents and expedited requests, and lead teams in excellent communication with all parties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent working experience.
  • 10+ years in an operational role with experience in Transfer Agency and/or Workflows.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role within IT or equivalent operations role.
  • Experience in the mutual fund industry is a strong asset.
  • Experience working with FundServ is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong management, interpersonal and diplomatic skills to communicate with senior management.
  • Strong knowledge of the financial industry, especially Transfer Agency services.
  • Proven knowledge of development life cycle and practical experience with modern engineering practices, automation, DevOps, and AI integration.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to balance innovation with execution discipline.
