Job Description

Our client, L&L FARMING PTY LTD trading as VIRK PLANTATION, is seeking an experienced and motivated Horticulture Farm Manager to oversee and manage horticultural production operations on a full-time basis.

Tasks include:

• Establish and execute farm production strategies and operational plans to ensure consistent and optimal crop yields. • Collaborate with management and other farm workers on production planning, operational performance, and resource coordination matters. • Allocate duties, provide direction, and assess staff performance to ensure productivity targets and operational standards are met. • Coordinate crop production schedules, balancing output quality, production volumes, cost controls, timelines, and workforce requirements. • Direct daily horticultural activities, including land preparation, planting cycles, irrigation programs, fertilizer application, harvesting, and crop care. • Maintain accurate production records, operational reports, and regulatory documentation to support business planning and compliance obligations. • Regulate plant and machinery operations by setting maintenance programs, operational schedules, and ensuring the availability of appropriate tools and equipment. • Plan and manage the procurement, installation, commissioning, and effective utilization of farm machinery and production equipment. • Analyze production performance and expenditure trends, implementing process adjustments to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs. • Participate in and guide research into improved farming techniques, crop management practices, and production systems, translating findings into operational improvements. • Enforce workplace health and safety standards, ensuring safe systems of work are consistently applied across all farm operations.

Qualifications and skills: • Have at least relevant AQF Cert III or Cert IV qualifications and Have 2 Years of working experience in a similar role in a farm setting. or equivalent or 3 years of employment experience with formal training OR 5 years of experience without formal training. • Strong understanding of agricultural production processes. • Strong knowledge of horticultural production processes and farm operations. • Ability to plan, manage and coordinate staff and resources effectively. • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements. • Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and make informed operational decisions.

Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation
