Job Description
Walk With Web Inc. (WWW) is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Web Developer. This position provides an exciting opportunity to develop practical experience while contributing to impactful projects in a professional and dynamic environment.
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience with PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, and modern web development practices.
- Strong experience developing and maintaining Drupal-based applications, including Drupal configuration, custom modules, themes, APIs, permissions, content models, and integrations.
- Experience working with Drupal 10/11, Composer, Drush, configuration management, and Drupal development workflows.
- Experience developing applications using Next.js and React, including component development, routing, API integration, server-side rendering, and frontend application architecture.
- Experience working with decoupled/headless Drupal architectures, including integrating Drupal backends with Next.js or other frontend frameworks through REST, JSON:API, GraphQL, or related APIs.
- Ability to design, develop, modify, debug, and maintain both backend and frontend code as required by the project.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, authentication, data exchange, and third-party system integrations.
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including database design, SQL queries, performance troubleshooting, and data migration.
- Experience with Git and GitHub, including branches, pull requests, code reviews, merge strategies, issue tracking, and collaborative development workflows.
- Experience deploying and maintaining web applications on AWS, including development, staging, and production environments.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and deployment automation, preferably Terraform, GitHub Actions, or comparable CI/CD technologies.
- Strong understanding of web application security, including HTTPS/TLS, authentication, authorization, permissions, secrets management, dependency management, and secure coding practices.
- Experience troubleshooting application, server, database, API, deployment, and infrastructure issues across the full web development stack.
- Ability to work with and improve existing codebases, including reviewing legacy or third-party code, identifying technical debt, refactoring components, and implementing improvements.
- Ability to translate technical requirements, UX/UI designs, data models, and functional specifications into working production-quality features.
- Experience with responsive frontend development, WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility requirements, browser compatibility, and frontend performance optimization.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, documented, and reusable code and establish development standards for other developers.
- Ability to independently implement complex features while also breaking development work into appropriate tasks for junior and other web developers.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical architecture and development planning for project(s).
- Advise on and set up AWS development, staging, and production environments.
- Configure and set up GitHub repositories, branching strategies, deployment workflows, and related development processes.
- Configure domain names, security, team access, permissions, and policies as required.
- Work with the Manager to develop and maintain the technical roadmap, priorities, and implementation plan.
- Attend technical meetings with the Manager, Drupal developer, project partners, and other team members as required.
- Review technical options, answer development and infrastructure questions, and provide recommendations on the best way forward.
- Work directly with other web developers developers assigned to the project(s).
- Provide technical direction, oversight, and support to junior developers.
- Undertake hands-on development work, including writing, reviewing, debugging, and modifying code as required.
- Develop and implement technical components directly where tasks require senior-level experience or cannot reasonably be completed independently by junior developers.
- Take responsibility for complex architecture, infrastructure, integration, troubleshooting, deployment, and development tasks where required.
- Review code and technical work produced by other developers and provide corrections, improvements, or direct implementation support where necessary.
- Contribute to the configuration, integration, testing, and deployment of the web application and related systems.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including architecture, infrastructure, setup, deployment, workflows, roadmaps, and technical recommendations.
- Assist with identifying technical risks, dependencies, and potential development issues.
- Support decisions relating to scalability, security, infrastructure, deployment, integrations, and system maintenance.
- Work on an as-needed basis, with tasks, priorities, and hours coordinated with the Manager.
- Use AI-assisted tools where appropriate to support research, drafting, documentation, troubleshooting, and development, with responsibility for reviewing and validating final outputs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in web application development, software engineering, or technical architecture.
- Significant equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of formal educational qualifications.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
