Vascular Clinical Nurse Specialist Employer: Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Salary: £39,959 - £48,117 per annum (pro rata for part time staff) Closing date: 26/04/2026 23:59 Band: 6 (NHS AfC: Band 6) Job overview Full‑time permanent AFC Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Vascular role covering South Yorkshire Vascular services. Forward‑thinking nurse experienced caring for patients with vascular concerns, managing patients within scope of practice and responsibility for continuity of care. Includes examining and assessing patients with highly complex or chronic conditions, planning and implementation of care, working within nurse‑led clinics and comprehensive follow‑up services, ensuring smooth transition for patients through the relevant pathway.

Enthusiasm for promoting patient comfort and improving the patient experience required. Main duties of the job Support Senior Vascular Nurse Specialists and Vascular Surgeons in provision of high quality care to patients with vascular disease. Deliver a holistic, high quality service reflecting current clinical practice and critical thinking using evidence‑based practice.

Work in partnership with other professionals and organisations to keep patients in an appropriate environment, avoiding hospital admission. Work closely with other clinicians and specialists to ensure high quality, seamless care for each patient. Act as a source of expert advice and information to patients, carers and relatives facilitating areas.

Contribute to development and delivery of educational programmes for nursing and non‑nursing colleagues. Work across South Yorkshire, primarily at Northern General Hospital but also providing inpatient support and clinics at Barnsley District General and Rotherham District General. The ability to drive is essential to carry out all elements of the role.

Person specification – Qualifications Completed national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998. Evidence of continuous professional development. Evidence of level 6 study.

Experience Demonstrable post‑registration experience. Organisational awareness. Effective multidisciplinary teamwork across professional and organisational boundaries.

Experience in a busy, demanding specialty with prioritisation and workload management. Ability to work within defined timescales. Existing Band 6 experience.

Vascular experience. Wound care experience. Training Up‑to‑date knowledge of local and national developments in nursing, medical practice and policies.

Computer literacy, including databases, PowerPoint, word processing and patient record systems. Skills Compassionate, committed and competent care delivery. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication.

Understanding of patient needs, dignity preservation. Responsibility for own actions, accuracy and attention to detail. Understanding of NMC and accountability.

Ability to work both as part of small team and independently with remote supervision. Flexibility to meet patient and department needs. Demonstrated understanding of the role.
