Trade Assistant and Truck Driver

Razorback Mining Services is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Trade Assistant / Truck Driver to support our workshop, transport, and site operations.

The role combines general trade‑assistant duties with the safe collection and delivery of fabricated components, excavator buckets, materials, equipment, and other heavy mining products. The successful candidate will assist boilermakers, welders, fitters, painters, and workshop personnel while ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who is mechanically minded, physically capable, organised, and comfortable working in a busy mining‑services workshop.

Key Responsibilities

Truck Driving and Deliveries

Safely operate company trucks and vehicles in accordance with road laws, company procedures, and fatigue‑management requirements.

Collect and deliver excavator buckets, fabricated components, steel, consumables, tools, equipment, and other materials.

Complete metropolitan and regional deliveries as required.

Carry out vehicle pre‑start inspections and report defects immediately.

Ensure all loads are correctly positioned, restrained, and secured before transport.

Assist with loading and unloading using forklifts, cranes, chains, slings, and other approved lifting equipment.

Confirm delivery documentation, load details, addresses, and site‑access requirements before departure.

Obtain delivery confirmations, signatures, photographs, or other required records.

Maintain accurate logbooks, pre‑start records, delivery dockets, and vehicle documentation.

Keep company vehicles clean, organised, fuelled, and ready for operation.

Represent Razorback Mining Services professionally when dealing with clients, suppliers, and site personnel.

Assist boilermakers, welders, fitters, machinists, painters, and other tradespeople.

Prepare materials, tools, equipment, and work areas for fabrication and repair activities.

Assist with grinding, sanding, drilling, cutting, cleaning, deburring, and general metal preparation.

Support the assembly, repair, and refurbishment of mining equipment and fabricated products.

Assist with basic rigging and dogging activities where appropriately trained and authorised.

Move materials and equipment around the workshop using forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other approved equipment.

Clean fabricated components before inspection, painting, transport, or dispatch.

Assist with workshop housekeeping, waste disposal, stock movement, and yard organisation.

Maintain tools and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.

Follow instructions, drawings, job packs, and workshop procedures.

Support other operational duties as reasonably required.

Safety Responsibilities

Comply with Razorback Mining Services’ health, safety, environmental, and quality‑management systems.

Complete pre‑starts, Take 5s, Job Hazard Analyses, and other risk assessments as required.

Wear all required personal protective equipment.

Follow load‑restraint, lifting, working‑at‑heights, manual‑handling, and traffic‑management procedures.

Immediately report hazards, incidents, injuries, vehicle defects, equipment damage, and near misses.

Stop work where an unsafe condition exists.

Ensure lifting and transport equipment is inspected and used within its rated capacity.

Maintain a clean and safe workshop, yard, and vehicle.

Physical Requirements

The role may require the employee to:

Lift and carry materials and equipment.

Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods.

Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Work around welding, grinding, machinery, noise, dust, paint, and heavy equipment.

Secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and other restraint equipment.

Hours of Work

Standard workshop hours will apply; however, the employee may be required to:

Start early or finish late to meet delivery requirements.

Work reasonable overtime.

Work occasional weekends where operationally required.
