The Opportunity
A retail giant going through an exciting phase of IT growth is looking for an IT Business Analyst to join their team on an initial 12-month contract. Reporting to the IT Payments & Applications Support Manager, you will act as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams. This is a hands‑on, end‑to‑end SDLC role where you will map AS‑IS and TO‑BE processes, run workshops, and drive operational excellence across complex retail application and payment platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End BA Excellence: Perform hands‑on business analysis to gather, document, and validate complex business requirements, translating them into crisp User Stories and Acceptance Criteria.
- Process Modelling & Strategy: Map out detailed "As-Is" and "To-Be" workflows, identifying pain points, defining scope, and creating functional designs (using tools like Lucidcharts/Visio).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Project Managers, Architects, Developers, and Testers to ensure smooth technical alignment from initiation to post-go-live support.
- Stakeholder Management: Facilitate high-impact workshops, acting as a functional SME and translating technical complexities into plain language for diverse, multicultural business audiences.
- QA & Change Support: Assist with UAT planning, review test cases, and support organisational change management by contributing to end‑user training and documentation.
About You
- The Experience: 5 to 10 years dedicated as an IT Business Analyst navigating complex enterprise IT programs and the full SDLC.
- Domain Knowledge: Experience within the Retail, Healthcare, or Pharmaceutical sectors preferable.
- The Toolkit: Proven proficiency with Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence, and process mapping tools (Lucidchart/Visio). Deep familiarity with BABOK principles is highly regarded.
- Certifications (Desirable): CCBA, CBAP, or equivalent IIBA credentials, alongside exposure to Prince2 or PMBOK methodologies.
- Soft Skills: A "can-do" attitude, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and the confidence to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Location & Setup: You must be based locally in Melbourne and comfortable working in a hybrid capacity (4 days per week in the Preston office).
