Position Summary
This role reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting and includes working-level supervision of Analysts. The incumbent will coordinate and review the compilation of financial information that supports the communication of accurate and timely financial results of TCEnergy and TransCanada PipeLines Limited.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and review the compilation of TCEnergy’s quarterly and annual Management’s Discussion and Analysis, ensuring accuracy, consistency and alignment with regulatory and disclosure requirements.
- Oversee the compilation of TCEnergy's quarterly reporting documents and Annual Report, ensuring consistency across financial statements, MD&A, supporting disclosures and related reporting materials.
- Review standalone legal entity financial statements and other ad‑hoc internal and external financial statements for accuracy, consistency and compliance with applicable accounting and reporting requirements.
- Lead the review of consolidated internal financial performance reporting, including analysis of operating results, key business and period‑over‑period variances to support executive decision‑making and external disclosures.
- Coordinate and review the quarterly and annual Statistics Canada reports.
- Conduct the review of the annual Registered Pension Plan financial statements.
- Serve as one of the primary contacts in Financial Reporting for internal stakeholders—Investor Relations, Legal, Finance, Treasury—and external partners.
- Monitor emerging accounting, regulatory and disclosure developments and assess their impact on financial reporting processes and disclosures.
- Collaborate with the team to identify continual improvement opportunities, analyze process flows and streamline reporting processes.
- Supervise and mentor a small team of Analysts and Interns.
- Provide special projects and ad‑hoc analysis as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Successful completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting‑related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven leadership with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.
- Keen attention to detail and a drive for continuous improvement.
- Strong financial analysis, reporting and communication skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines with multiple priorities and minimal supervision.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and the ability to optimize Excel models.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP or other recognized accounting standards.
- Experience working with SAP, BPC, Workiva, SharePoint, Teams and/or Power BI considered an asset.
