The Role An exciting opportunity for passionate, motivated nurses to join our Orthopaedic team in Ward 21 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH).

Ward 21 within the RAH delivers a varied range of surgeries for fractures/injuries and elective orthopaedic surgery. The unit comprises 52 Trauma Receiving beds, 18 Elective beds, Fracture and Orthopaedic clinics and the first Trauma assessment unit within GGC. You will work with innovative team members within multidisciplinary environments, collaborating across the unit.

You will be supported, encouraged and appreciated in your role. There will be opportunities to enhance your skills through training and development offered and supported by our Nurse Educator. It is essential you are a Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration.

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital Permanent contract Full-time position (36 hours per week) Shift pattern: 12-hour shifts over 7 days, including public holidays and weekends. Flexible shifts available beyond the standard 12-hour rota.

Key Responsibilities Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care programmes to deliver a high standard of care. In the absence of the ward sister or deputy, take charge of the ward for daily responsibilities, including work allocation, deployment and supervision of staff. Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives/carers and the multidisciplinary team to ensure information is shared and patient needs are met.

Monitor standards of care within policies, procedures and protocols to ensure delivery of a high-quality service. Lead and supervise/mentor junior staff and students, acting as a source of advice to support educational needs. Undertake teaching of registered/non-registered staff, and participate in staff personal development plans to facilitate ongoing development.

Organise own workload to ensure patient interests are met. Maintain patient records within agreed standards. Contribute to maintaining departmental stock levels and ensure economic use of resources.

Develop the role through evidence-based practice and continuous knowledge improvement, following PREP guidelines; participate in clinical audit as required.
