An exciting opportunity for passionate and motivated nurses to join our fantastic Orthopaedic team in Ward 21 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) has arisen.

Ward 21 within the RAH delivers a varied range of surgeries for fractures/injuries and elective orthopaedic surgery. The unit itself comprises 52 trauma‑receiving beds, 18 elective beds, fracture and orthopaedic clinics and the first trauma assessment unit within GGC. You will have the opportunity to work with innovative team members within multidisciplinary environments, working collaboratively across the unit.

You will be supported, encouraged and appreciated in your role. There will be opportunities for enhancing your skills, through additional training and development which we offer and encourage. This is supported by our Nurse Educator who will support you while you settle into your new environment.

It is essential you are a Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration. You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern Location based in Royal Alexandra Hospital Permanent contract Full‑time position (36 hours per week) Shift pattern for this post is 12‑hour shifts over 7 days, including public holidays and weekends.

We are to offer flexible shift patterns out with the standard 12‑hour rota. Key Responsibilities Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care. In the absence of the ward sister or deputy, take charge of the ward for the management of daily responsibilities, including work allocation, deployment and supervision of staff, to ensure smooth running of the area.

Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives/carers and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met. Assist in monitoring standards of care within defined policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the ward to ensure adherence to, and delivery of, a high quality service. Lead and supervise/mentor junior staff/students who are providing care to patients, and act as a source of advice to ensure their educational needs are met.

Undertake teaching of registered/non‑registered nursing staff, including basic and post‑basic students, and participate in the implementation of staff personal development plans to facilitate ongoing development. Organise own workload to ensure that the interests of patients/clients are met. Responsible for maintaining patient records within agreed standards.

Participate in maintaining departmental stock levels, through ordering of stores, ensuring the economic use of all resources. Develop the role by using evidence‑based practice and continuously improve own knowledge following PREP guidelines. Participate in clinical audit as required.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job Registered Nurses on the NMC Register Previous orthopaedic experience desirable. Evidence of continued professional development. Excellent interpersonal skills.
