SQL Developer

About the Position

As a Senior SQL Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining high-performance database solutions within an Agile delivery environment. Working as part of a collaborative technology team, you will contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from solution design through to implementation and ongoing enhancement.

In addition to hands‑on development, you will help improve engineering standards, promote best practices and support the evolution of development processes to increase quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise Microsoft SQL Server database solutions.
• Build robust, scalable and high‑performing database applications.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to iterative software delivery.
• Apply object‑oriented design principles and established software design patterns where appropriate.
• Work closely with developers, business analysts and stakeholders to deliver business‑focused solutions.
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing and deployment.
• Identify opportunities to improve development processes and drive greater efficiency within the team.
• Take ownership of technical issues through to successful resolution.
• Produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with both local and global teams.
• Promote development best practices, coding standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

• Experience working within Agile or Lean software development environments.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming principles, software design patterns and application architecture.
• Broad technical knowledge across software development and database technologies.
• Understanding of the complete software development lifecycle.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience collaborating with distributed or international teams.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to take ownership of work and deliver high‑quality solutions.
• A proactive approach to learning new technologies and adopting engineering best practices.
• Previous experience working within financial services, particularly investment banking or capital markets.
• Exposure to front‑office or middle‑office technology environments.
• Understanding of operational risk, compliance, governance or risk management principles.
• Experience working on business‑critical or high‑availability systems.

Remuneration Package

A strong rate is on offer for the successful candidate. This is a hybrid role, 3 days in the office each week in south Dublin.
