Senior Business Development Manager - Aviation (Permanent) Ottawa, ON Expected Salary: $127,930 to $159,913 Description In this role, you will: Lead Babcock Canada’s aviation opportunities and, where appropriate, develop and execute programs aligned with business strategy. Support development of the aviation business strategy. Lead the establishment, development and management of an opportunity pipeline aligned with business strategies and goals, focusing on transition from BD to Capture Phase.
Support and lead market positioning activities and identify and establish relationships with key customers and stakeholders. Develop and maintain relationships with potential partners, subcontractors, and acquisitions supporting campaigns. Lead and manage multi‑disciplinary teams to develop winning proposals that meet customer requirements.
Promote Babcock in Canadian Defence, Civil and Commercial aviation markets. Capture Management Activities Act as the BD lead for assigned capture opportunities. Identify and shape customer requirements to align with Babcock’s capabilities and offerings.
Support and when appropriate lead the development of proposal, pricing, teaming, and bid strategies for key opportunities. Support the identification and development of relationships with potential partners, subcontractors, consultants and subject matter experts. Support development of teaming and workshare agreements.
Lead the development of capture plans, technical and management approaches, win strategies, discriminators, and competitive positioning. Support and at times lead teams in developing technical, management and pricing proposals to meet individual bid requirements. Have functional responsibility for assigned personnel.
Undertake other duties as required. Support to Other Business Development Sector Campaigns Capture and bid support, including business development events. Lead specific technology and innovation initiatives.
Support to Wider Business Operations Program management support where required. Deliver aviation‑focused technical support across the business, including but not restricted to business development activities. Ensure occupational health and safety of direct reports.
Foster and strengthen collaboration with other Babcock International Group organizations and partners. Qualifications A degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is preferred. 12+ years’ experience managing teams and working in the aviation sector. Strong knowledge of RCAF operations and/or aircraft lifecycle management.
Ability to work independently in a proactive, self‑directed manner. Experience in business development or capture management is an asset. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of federal procurement, capture and proposal management principles. Understanding of project management and bid estimating/pricing processes. Familiarity with related methodologies and operational frameworks.
Experience with federal, provincial and civil aviation clients. Proven ability to communicate complex information and build relationships at all organizational levels. Proven experience building and managing customer relationships to seek out and identify new business opportunities.
