Senior Insurance Accounting Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Senior Insurance Accounting Specialist to join an international finance team, supporting accounting operations and financial reporting within the insurance sector.

This position is ideal for professionals with extensive experience in insurance accounting, strong knowledge of IFRS 17, and a solid background in financial reporting under multiple accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support periodic financial closing activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Prepare and review accounting entries related to insurance operations in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
• Perform balance sheet and account reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute to financial reporting and analytical reviews, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Actuarial, Internal Control, and Reporting.
• Maintain accurate accounting documentation and ensure appropriate audit support.
• Develop, review, and improve accounting procedures and operational processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and strengthening financial controls.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Audit, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in insurance accounting or a similar senior finance role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 17 (mandatory).
• Solid understanding of French GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Previous experience within the Life and/or Non-Life Insurance industry.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of IFRS 9 is considered an advantage.
• Fluent English and Portuguese.
• Basic knowledge of French is a plus.
