About the Team

Our vision is to build a personal copilot for every YouTube creator. We work in small, focused teams where people are expected to understand the problem, make decisions, and take ownership of the outcome.

We value people who are strong in their craft, communicate clearly, challenge ideas with respect, and follow through from problem to production.

We’re also an AI-native team. We build AI into our product and use it every day in how we work—from writing and reviewing code to debugging, testing, prototyping, and exploring new ideas.

About the role

vidIQ meets creators where they are, through a web app, mobile apps, and browser extensions. Our frontend is built with React, Next.js, TypeScript, Vite, and Tailwind. We use a range of AI models to power creator-facing features such as ideation, metadata generation, and content insights.

This is a frontend-leaning role, but you won't stop at the frontend. You'll own entire product surfaces from end to end: the UI, the APIs behind it, the data it depends on, and how it performs in production. We expect you to understand the problem, decide what to build, and ship it.

You'll shape how millions of creators experience vidIQ, and you'll help define how our engineering team builds software now that AI is a real collaborator.

This is a remote position open to candidates worldwide. Employment classification and engagement structure will be determined based on location, legal requirements, and mutual fit.

What you will do:

  • Own product surfaces end to end. You'll be the go-to owner for key parts of vidIQ, we serve over 1M daily active creators. You'll set their direction, track how they perform, and decide what to improve next.

  • Work across the stack. You'll build and change backend APIs, services, and data flows when a feature needs it, instead of waiting on another team.

  • Drive your own roadmap. You'll spot opportunities in user feedback, data, and the codebase, turn them into proposals, align with product and design, and deliver without needing to be managed closely.

  • Modernize the frontend. You'll lead the refactor of key features from JavaScript to TypeScript to improve performance and maintainability, using AI-assisted tooling where it speeds up the work without lowering the bar for quality.

  • Build AI-powered product experiences. You'll ship LLM-driven features across the stack, from model integration and prompts on the backend to streaming responses, error handling, and clear UX when model output is unpredictable.

  • Fix architecture and performance problems. You'll find bottlenecks and weaknesses anywhere in the request path, frontend or backend, and leave the system better than you found it.

  • Make AI part of how the team works. You'll use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot every day, share what works, and help set team practices for using AI responsibly.

  • Improve durability. You'll test important workflows, add useful monitoring and error reporting, and own what you ship after it's live, whether you wrote every line or reviewed and refined AI-generated code.

  • Raise the bar through review and mentorship. You'll review code from other engineers, AI-assisted or not, and give feedback that helps others grow.

  • About You

    • You have at least 5 years of professional software development experience.

    • You're strongest on the frontend, but you're comfortable on the backend. You can design an API, write server-side code, work with databases, and debug problems that cross the client-server boundary.

    • You're self-driven. You don't need a detailed spec to get started, and you're happy making decisions, asking the right questions, and moving work forward on your own.

    • You act like an owner. When something you're responsible for breaks, underperforms, or confuses users, you notice and fix it before anyone asks.

    • You've led projects from concept to completion, including documenting the work and teaching others about it.

    • You care about product quality and leave codebases in better shape than you found them.

    • You write and speak clearly, and you can explain technical concepts to non-technical people.

    • You're confident with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Vite, and Tailwind.

    • You're a heavy, thoughtful user of AI tools. AI coding assistants and agents are part of how you plan, build, debug, test, and review every day. You know where they save you hours and where they fail, and you check AI output as carefully as you'd check a teammate's pull request.

    • You keep up with the fast-moving AI landscape and like trying new models, tools, and workflows.

Nice to have

  • Backend experience with Node.js, Scala, and/or Python, plus relational databases, caching, and queues

  • Experience with Redux, Redux Saga, and/or Zustand

  • Experience building LLM-powered features, such as streaming UIs, model APIs, prompt design, or evals

  • Experience with agentic coding workflows, such as running AI agents on multi-step tasks, writing custom rules or context files, or using MCP servers

Perks and Benefits

  • Work Remotely: Embrace the freedom to choose your ideal workspace anywhere in the world.

  • Flexible Time Off: We support a flexible vacation policy allowing you to take time off when you need to recharge.

  • Communication Stipend: Enjoy a monthly stipend to cover your phone and internet expenses, helping you stay connected effortlessly.
