Senior Engineer

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Engineer to work with the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework based at one of our offices in the Scottish Highlands – Thurso or Alness. A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Engineer: Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department. Assist with temporary works design schemes. Maintain good working relations with client, designer and team, together with our supply chain.

Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques. Ensure that drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction, and formally request any missing data in a timely manner. Communicate with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided.

Oversee the selection and requisition of materials and plant for the construction process. Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works. Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including changes, subcontractor attendance and records of work‑related discussions.

Ensure inspection and test plans are completed as required, including checks of dimensional accuracy and quality. Qualifications Experience in construction or civil engineering projects. Experience within ITPs, RAMs and temporary works.

Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation, health & safety and environmental legislation. Ability and confidence to discuss engineering issues with people across various levels and disciplines. Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
