Overview

In this role you will lead commercial management for rail and civil projects, shaping cost, risk, and procurement strategies to support on-time delivery. You will liaise with planning, estimating and senior stakeholders, driving earned value, CVR reporting, and contract form selection. You’ll coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across large geographies to keep projects on plan and financially healthy.

This is a hands-on opportunity to influence commercial outcomes in a high-profile infrastructure business.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate commercial team to address programme issues and actions
  • Prepare and review target costs and tender submissions
  • Manage Earned Value Management processes and monthly CVR reports
  • Report commercial progress to senior divisional staff
  • Feedback commercial data to planning, estimating, marketing and sales
  • Advise on client supply chain requirements and contract/procurement forms
  • Formulate management plans for resource procurement
  • Understand disputes resolution and SCL Protocol; liaise with legal experts
  • Represent financial/contractual interests in progress meetings
  • Co-ordinate buying, accounts, planning, procurement and surveying functions
  • Manage project cost reporting and commercial risk/opportunity
  • Recruitment and development of commercial staff; liaison with HR
  • Involvement with schools/universities to promote BB as an employer
  • Interact with parties to keep tasks/projects on plan
  • Ensure talent needs are identified and training opportunities pursued
Key requirements
  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (ideally)
  • Experience in Rail or Civil Engineering sectors (preferred)
  • Experience with NEC contracts (Options A, C, E)
  • Experience on large, multi-site projects (>£50m)
  • Membership in professional bodies (RICS, ICES, CIOB) desirable
