Job Description
Graduate Secondary Teacher Scholarship Program (To commence 2027)
Employment Status: Permanent Full-Time
Teacher Salary Range: $86,600 - $124,724 (pending experience)
Interview Process: Applications will be forwarded to the nominated Secondary Colleges on receipt of application. Applicants will be contacted as soon as possible by a representative of the nominated College.
Eligibility: You are in your final year of tertiary studies with a Bachelor of Education or Master of Education, or a PTT applicant due to graduate in 2026, and meet the scholarship conditions.
*PTT applicants due to graduate in 2026 are also encouraged to apply.
- Financing: $4,500 ($500 initial payment in first pay; $2,000 at end of 1st and 2nd year)
- Employment: permanency on appointment

- Individualised Mentoring: provided by your appointed College
Early offer of permanency and appointment for successful Scholarship applicants can occur from June 2026 in line with College appointment processes.
Initial payment of $500 will be paid in your first pay.
Scholarship Locations: available to all Colleges at Catholic Education – Diocese of Rockhampton. Preservice teachers may nominate their secondary college of choice.
Interviews are completed by the individual secondary colleges.
- Be due to graduate and confer in 2026 and obtain provisional QCT registration prior to 2027 school year commencement.
Scholarship Conditions:

- Evidence of successfully passing the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education.
- Demonstrate professional knowledge, practice and engagement.
- Eligible to work in Australia for duration of appointment.
- Desire to serve the community of Central Queensland.
High‑achieving graduates will be identified on the basis of professional experience reports, application responses and referee statements.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and ability to obtain Queensland College of Teachers registration.
