Sales Development Representative
Right Choice Resources
Job Description
Our client is a growing, technology-enabled M&A advisory firm that helps small business owners navigate the process of selling their companies.
They are looking for a Sales Development Representative to identify and engage business owners who may be considering selling their company and generate appointments for the sales team.
This is a true outbound sales role. Success requires someone who is comfortable prospecting from scratch, initiating thoughtful conversations with business owners, qualifying opportunities, and consistently generating high-quality meetings.
The base salary is $60,000-$70,000, which may be negotiable based on experience, with on-target earnings of $100,000+.
What You'll Do
- Prospect and identify business owners who may be considering selling their companies.
- Conduct outbound outreach through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other prospecting channels.
- Build your own pipeline of prospective sellers.
- Speak directly with business owners and decision-makers to understand their businesses, financial profile, and potential interest in a sale.
- Qualify prospects before scheduling them with a Transaction Advisor.
- Schedule qualified meetings and ensure prospects are prepared for the conversation.
- Maintain accurate prospecting activity, notes, and pipeline information in the CRM.
- Follow up consistently with prospects who may not be ready to sell immediately.
- Partner closely with sales team to improve meeting quality and identify the strongest opportunities.
- Continually test and improve messaging, prospecting strategies, and outreach.
What We're Looking For
Sales experience is preferred, particularly previous experience as an SDR, BDR, or in another outbound prospecting role, but it is not an absolute requirement.
We are also open to someone earlier in their career who demonstrates the maturity, professionalism, judgment, and communication skills needed to speak credibly with business owners.
The strongest candidates will be:
- Mature, polished, and professional in how they communicate.
- Curious and able to have thoughtful business conversations rather than relying on overly scripted or aggressive sales tactics.
- Comfortable making cold calls and initiating conversations with business owners.
- Persistent and able to handle rejection without losing momentum.
- Strong listeners who ask good questions and know when to dig deeper.
- Organized and disciplined about prospecting and follow-up.
- Motivated by measurable goals and performance-based compensation.
- Comfortable working in a growing company where processes and playbooks will continue to evolve.
- Interested in working collaboratively with the team in the Manhattan office 3 days per week.
Why This Opportunity?
This isn't a BDR role where success is measured simply by activity.
You'll be speaking directly with business owners about one of the most important financial decisions they may ever make: selling their company.
That requires more than persistence. It requires curiosity, professionalism, good judgment, and the ability to build credibility quickly.
For someone who wants to develop strong business development skills while gaining exposure to entrepreneurship, M&A, and small businesses, this is an opportunity to learn quickly and make a measurable impact on a growing company, while also having the chance to be promoted into a sales closing role.
