Your Opportunity Applicants must have completed an accredited perioperative course to work in the operating room. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing perioperative patient care using the nursing process in accordance with CRNA, ORNAC, and CSA Standards of practice. The RN will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both scrub and circulating roles as an integral part of the surgical team in the operating room and minor surgery clinic.
The RN is responsible for providing safe care throughout the patient stay in the surgical suite, promoting the professional role, evaluating their own professional education and clinical practice standards, and practicing using evidence-based measures and outcomes. The RN is a patient advocate and provides a link between the unit and the operating room and/or minor surgery clinic unit. Description As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations while ensuring their safety and well‑being.
You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance, providing safe, quality patient and family‑centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour.
Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable. Classification and Details Classification: Registered Nurse Union: United Nurses of Alberta Unit and Program: Surgical Suites Primary Location: Peter Lougheed Centre FTE: 0.61 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift (weeks): 8 Shifts per cycle: 23 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends, On Call Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $44.56 Maximum Salary: $60.98 Required Qualifications Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Recent experience in an operating room of equivalent size within the last 5 years.
Ability to wear lead for many hours. Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours supporting the surgical team. Preferred Qualifications Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapidly moving and complex environment.
