Kílala Lelum Health and Wellness Cooperative is a Vancouver-based organization dedicated to providing holistic, culturally respectful care to urban Indigenous communities. Established through collaboration among physicians, nurses, Indigenous Elders, and committed staff, we focus on delivering integrated physical, mental, emotional and spiritual support. Inspired by the Vancouver Indigenous Elders Partnership program, we incorporate Indigenous wisdom and traditions into healthcare to foster healing and resilience. Our team works to address health disparities and promote equity while honoring the principles of Truth and Reconciliation. Role Description This is a part‑time, on‑site role for a Registered Nurse based in Vancouver, BC. The Registered Nurse will deliver patient‑centered care by conducting health assessments, providing therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with Indigenous Elders, physicians and multidisciplinary team members. Responsibilities include patient education, managing care plans, and ensuring culturally safe and trauma‑informed practices are maintained. The role focuses on addressing holistic health needs and fostering respectful, empowering interactions with individuals and families in the community.
Qualifications Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, care planning, and administration of treatments or medications Knowledge of holistic and patient‑centered care, particularly within Indigenous communities, with a commitment to cultural safety and trauma‑informed practices Effective communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills to build trust with diverse individuals and foster collaborative team environments Ability to work efficiently in multidisciplinary settings and manage priorities in dynamic environments Current registration and good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) Experience in community health or working with underserved populations preferred BLS (Basic Life Support) or CPR certification required A understanding of Indigenous cultural practices or the willingness to learn from Indigenous Elders is highly valued Experience with harm reduction: assessment, intervention, evidence‑based pharmacological approaches, and overdose response. One year of primary care nursing experience serving Indigenous communities and/or communities facing systemic barriers to health, ideally in the DTES. You have knowledge of the social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities, and familiarity with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. #J-18808-Ljbffr
