Process Engineer

HYPHAE

BallaratFull-timeMid LevelOn-site

Job Description

Hexite is building Australia's first composite material recovery platform. We recover glass and carbon fibre from end of life composite waste, including wind turbine blades, using a patented chemical separation process operating below 90 degrees. The technology is independently validated by CSIRO and UNSW at 87% clean fibre recovery, with a granted patent and two pending.

We're backed by UQ Ventures and currently scaling from pilot to commercial operations in Ballarat, Victoria.

message from the founder

I started Hexite because composite waste, glass fibre, carbon fibre, entire wind turbine blades, has no real recovery pathway in Australia. It all goes to landfill. We've proven the technology works.

CSIRO and UNSW have validated it. Now we need to build the team that scales it.If you want to work on a real materials problem with national impact, not just write code or sit in a lab, I'd love to talk.Hasif Founder, Hexite

Flexible, part-time to start, full-time for the right candidate

Hexite is building Australia's first composite material recovery platform, recovering glass and carbon fibre from end of life composite waste using a patented chemical separation process validated by CSIRO and UNSW at 87% clean fibre recovery. We're scaling from pilot to commercial operations and looking for a process engineer to help us get there.

Responsibilities

  • Support process optimisation and characterisation testing at our Ballarat pilot facility.
  • Work directly with our technical co‑founder on scaling the chemical separation process toward commercial throughput.
  • Contribute to material testing protocols for recovered glass fibre, carbon fibre, and byproduct streams.
  • Support the design and commissioning of Hexite's first commercial‑scale facility.

Requirements

  • Background in chemical, materials, mechanical, or process engineering.
  • Comfortable working in a pilot or lab environment with hands‑on process work.
  • Interest in composite materials, circular economy, or industrial waste recovery.
  • Self‑starter comfortable with early‑stage startup ambiguity.

What you'll gain

  • Equity participation with technical co‑founder pathway for the right candidate.
  • Direct ownership of the technical roadmap for a deep‑tech startup tackling a multi‑million tonne national waste problem.
  • Early access to CSIRO and UNSW validated technology and the team that built it.
