SEN Primary Teacher – North London

Position classification: M1 – UPS 2 + SEN Point. Long‑term with opportunity for permanent.

This is a primary SEN school in Islington, North London rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted. The school caters for 260 pupils aged 3‑11 years with a wide range of complex and profound learning difficulties, including severe autism, complex medical conditions, physical and mobility difficulties, and severe developmental delay. It is situated in a purpose‑built facility and run by highly trained, enthusiastic staff.

Pupils receive individualized programmes supported by a multi‑agency team comprising physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, vision and hearing support, and nursing staff.

Responsibilities

As a Primary Teacher in this SEN school you will plan, develop, and coordinate learning programmes for a small class of approximately seven students with SLD and autism. You will implement whole‑class and group learning activities, continuously assess pupils’ progress towards their specific learning goals, and work closely with highly skilled SEN teaching assistants. You will also deliver sensory programmes that integrate the physical, academic, social, and emotional needs of each student.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (after completing a PGCE, Graduate Teaching Programme, Bachelor of Education, QTLS or equivalent overseas qualification)
• Previous experience teaching students with needs, including ASD/Autism and moderate or severe learning difficulties (MLD, SLD)
• Strong knowledge of the UK national curriculum
