Job Description
Required Skills & Experience · 4 years of experience supporting implementation of planning/forecasting tools or analytics solutions, including requirements definition, testing/UAT, and training/change management. · University degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline with strong power systems focus (or equivalent experience). · Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible to obtain is preferred; relevant utility planning experience is an asset. · Background in distribution system planning and forecasting at the system and feeder level (capacity, constraints, load growth, reliability performance). · Strong analytical skills: comfortable working with data and models (advanced Excel required; Power BI, SQL, Python/R are strong assets). · Familiarity with data visualization and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or equivalent. Nice to Have Skills & Experience PMP Certification and PM experience Job Description Insight Global is looking for a Planning Engineer for a 12-month contract to support a large utilities company's Grid Analytics & Data Modernization team in enabling modern planning and forecasting capabilities for distribution system planning, including DER and DSO planning. This contract role works closely with internal engineering teams and external vendor partners to define requirements, validate data and analytical results, coordinate testing, and support training and adoption of new planning toolsets.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in power system planning combined with modern analytics and data practices, and will contribute to system planning analyses, planning insights, and the modernization of planning-related data and reporting to improve planning quality, consistency, and timeliness, enabling better investment decisions and overall system performance. This role is a hybrid, 2x/week in office in Vaughn.
