Navigation Engineer Pioneering the Future of Positioning: Join Us as a Navigation Engineer! Ready to apply your knowledge in sensor fusion and positioning technologies to cutting-edge products? The Trimble Applanix team is seeking a motivated Navigation Engineer to design, develop, and test core software and algorithms.
You will leverage deep expertise in GNSS-aided inertial technology to deliver high-precision georeferencing for sensors and vehicles. Responsibilities Design and enhance advanced Kalman filters for GNSS/INS products utilizing IMUs and diverse aiding sensors to derive optimal navigation solutions.
Spearhead the development and optimization of real-time algorithms for elite geospatial performance in survey and mapping applications. Conduct sophisticated error analysis and systems engineering to evaluate product performance in diverse operational settings. Lead data gathering and fine-tuning initiatives for next-generation navigation software platforms and connected hardware.
Collaborate with global stakeholders and clients to present performance results and define software requirements for future innovations. Qualifications PhD in Aerospace, Electrical, Geomatics Engineering, or Engineering Science with a focus on modern systems, control, and estimation. Proven expertise in Kalman filtering and GNSS navigation within aerospace, defense, or marine inertial applications.
Advanced software development proficiency in C/C++ for real-time systems or .NET environments. Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects and documentation within a fast-paced engineering lifecycle. Bonus: Experience with multi-sensor fusion beyond standard GNSS/IMU integration.
Bonus: Prior involvement in autonomous vehicle positioning or direct georeferencing for imaging devices. Bonus: Familiarity with post-mission mobile mapping software and hardware ecosystems.
