Job Description

THE ROLE

We are looking for a motivated people and policy leader to join the Office for Women. As a manager in Office for Women, you have an opportunity to advance your policy skills on a breadth of workstreams and apply your first‑class leadership, analytical, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills to drive better outcomes for Victorian women and girls.

The role requires a proactive self‑starter with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, leading complex workstreams and people, and a commitment to a professional and supportive work environment. You will lead a team to deliver policy and programmes to support the goals of Our equal state: Victoria's gender equality strategy and action plan 2023‑2027. The role has a balance of policy development, programme delivery and engagement with government, sector and community stakeholders, focusing on advising on issues related to women's economic security, participation and equity.

You will work closely with the leadership team of Office for Women to contribute to the management and strategic planning for the office, playing a key leadership role in this critical portfolio and influencing policy and programme outcomes.

Accountabilities Include

  • Provide authoritative, strategic and timely advice, briefings and support to the Minister for Women and Girls, Secretary, departmental senior executives and other key stakeholders on gender equality and related policy areas.
  • Conduct strategic policy analysis to inform the development of policy and specific projects, including coordinating reporting against whole of government strategies and priorities. Demonstrate thought leadership to consider forward policy directions in gender equality using government levers and influence.
  • Contribute to major projects, programmes and policy analysis relating to the development, coordination and implementation of government policy, with confidence navigating complex whole of government systems and processes.

We recognise diversity and that a team representative of the Victorian community is critical to the team's success in embedding an intersectional gender lens across government and the broader Victorian community. We strongly encourage First Nations people, people of colour, people with disability, LGBTIQA+ people and people of all genders to apply.

Demonstrated experience in gender equality, social policy and managing teams will be a strong advantage.
