The Role The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production equipment to maximize plant output and minimize downtime.
The role focuses on monitoring equipment performance, conducting preventive and corrective maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Key Duties and Responsibilities Monitor production equipment performance and respond promptly to breakdowns or operational issues to minimize production losses. Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities to ensure equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults on production machinery. Conduct routine inspections and condition monitoring to identify potential failures and implement corrective actions before they impact production. Work closely with production teams to ensure machinery operates at optimum efficiency and production targets are achieved.
Analyse equipment performance, downtime trends, and recurring faults to identify opportunities for improvement. Support initiatives aimed at increasing machine uptime, throughput, and overall production efficiency. Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history within the maintenance management system. Ensure spare parts are identified and reported to support maintenance activities and reduce equipment downtime. Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures while carrying out maintenance activities.
Participate in root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions. Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives focused on maximizing production output and equipment performance. Maintain high housekeeping standards within the maintenance workshop and production areas.
Skills and Experience Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment. Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems. Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Experience with automated production equipment and control systems is desirable. Good communication and teamwork skills.
