Long-Haul Truck Driver

Position Summary

Our Long-Haul Driver is responsible for transporting countertops to and from branches and suppliers in accordance with their set route in Canada.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Must have and maintain a Current Class A commercial driver's license and be forklift certified
• High School Diploma or equivalency
• 10 years of experience of long-haul driving
• 1 year of experience with step deck, double drop or flatbed freight required
• Knowledge of highway and road regulations
• Valid work permit
• Ability to operate a forklift is an asset
• Basic math skills
• Must be able to lift 100lbs with assistance
• Able to drive for long extensive periods of time
• Must have a clean driving record and a clear criminal record
• Must be comfortable driving in winter conditions

Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operates flatbed, semi-truck to transport countertops in a long-haul setting
• Follows set trip route and reports on location as required
• Sets route schedule
• Safely operates a forklift and obtains certification
• Loads and unloads cargo
• Records cargo deliveries
• Refuels and cleans vehicle to maintain proper maintenance and housekeeping standards in vehicle
• Reports road incidents to supervisor
• Follows traffic laws
• Follows accident procedures if necessary
• Maintains all paperwork associated with trips and turns over to supervisor at end of shift
• Reports mechanical problems to maintenance personnel
• Plans routes using GPS system
• Maintains a positive attitude with customers both internal and external
• Commercial driver’s license must be kept up to date at all times
• Regular out-of-town and overnight travel throughout Canada
• Other duties as assigned
