Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our Product Development team in Springvale on a part-time basis, working two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to play an important role in supporting product innovation and quality.

About the Role

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be a key contributor to our Product Development team, providing laboratory testing, analysis and reporting that supports innovation, product development and continuous improvement initiatives. Your work will help the business understand product performance, evaluate new concepts and ensure informed decision-making throughout the development process. This role requires a dependable team member who can consistently deliver accurate results, maintain high-quality laboratory records and effectively support multiple projects and stakeholders.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct laboratory testing for locally manufactured products, trials and development projects.
  • Perform testing and evaluation of imported new product development (NPD) products.
  • Benchmark competitor products and compile comparative performance data.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure testing activities are completed accurately, consistently and within agreed timeframes.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation and execution of product trials.
  • Support product development projects and product investigations with technical testing and analysis.
  • Evaluate new packaging concepts and support packaging development activities.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Prepare clear, accurate and timely test reports for stakeholders.
  • Analyse and communicate testing outcomes to support decision-making.
  • Provide laboratory support to Quality Assurance activities as required.
  • Assist with sample preparation, packing and shipping for project and marketing requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Product Development and laboratory operations.

Who You Are

You are a motivated laboratory professional who enjoys working with precision and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality results. You are organized, proactive and able to balance multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on quality and safety.

You will bring

  • A technical qualification or degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Previous laboratory experience within FMCG, consumer goods, food manufacturing or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Experience conducting laboratory testing and maintaining accurate laboratory records.
  • Strong working knowledge of documented testing methods and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritize workload and manage deadlines effectively.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • A positive, proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and compliance.
  • Availability to work two days per week, Tuesday and Wednesday.
