Irrigation Manager

As Irrigation Manager you will oversee the Water Distribution Officers to ensure the efficient and reliable delivery of irrigation water to shareholders and customers, assist in the planning of water order demand and management of peak flow and capacity constraints, maintain the operational integrity of OIC and OIAMC irrigation assets through inspection and audit, and support the Operations Manager in meeting the Cooperative's service delivery and compliance obligations.

Duties

• Supervise and coordinate the Water Distribution Officers in the day-to-day delivery, measurement and regulation of irrigation water throughout the Stage 1 irrigation area, ensuring water is delivered to shareholders and customers in accordance with the Customer Charter.
• Assist in the planning of water order demand, including monitoring anticipated order volumes and timing to support efficient scheduling of deliveries.
• Assist in communicating with growers during periods of peak flow and capacity constraint, providing advice on delivery timing and constraints to manage expectations and minimise disruption.
• Conduct daily relief water checks across the distribution system and take appropriate action to address any issues identified.
• Assist in monitoring and improving overall system efficiency, identifying and reporting losses, inefficiencies or opportunities for improvement in water delivery.
• Act as relief Waterman as required, undertaking the water distribution and regulation duties normally performed by Water Distribution Officers.
• Undertake inspection and audit of irrigation assets, including channels, drains, structures and control equipment, to identify defects, risks and maintenance requirements.
• Assist with the planning and coordination of irrigation asset maintenance, working with the Operations Manager and maintenance staff or contractors as required.
• Assist the Environmental Officer with water sampling and monitoring requirements as required.
• Report immediately to the Operations Manager, or in their absence the General Manager, such matters as complaints by irrigators, unauthorised use of water, and damage to channels, drains or structures.
• Advise shareholders and customers of any works to be carried out in areas that may affect their service.
• Conduct, report and action audit findings to rectify faults and issues identified through internal workplace audits.
• Be willing to develop new ideas, service/product and efficiency gains for the Cooperative in a team atmosphere. Help determine service opportunities and customer requirements.
• Undertake other duties from time to time as requested and as appropriate to the performance of the Cooperative's service delivery objectives.
