Job Title – Innovation Delivery Analyst

Work Type – Full Time, 12 month Fixed-term Contract

In this role, you will identify opportunities, solve complex business challenges and deliver innovative solutions that create meaningful value for clients and stakeholders. Working with cross‑functional teams, you will apply design thinking, research, experimentation and data‑driven insights to turn ideas into impactful outcomes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Key highlights

Salary Range – $145,000 to $155,000 (total remuneration package inclusive of super), dependant on experience.

Hybrid work environment – a mix of office and flexible arrangements with the majority of the week in our collaborative office.

About the role

As an Innovation Delivery Analyst you will play a key role in helping VMIA achieve its strategic ambitions by identifying, developing and embedding innovative solutions that create value for our clients, stakeholders and the Victorian Government. Reporting to the Innovation Manager, you will contribute to building a confident and resilient Victoria by solving complex business challenges and delivering meaningful innovation across the organisation.

Working within the Innovation and Projects Office you will apply human‑centred design, innovation and problem‑solving methodologies to explore opportunities, test new ideas and deliver impactful outcomes. Through research, experimentation, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement you will help foster a culture of innovation while supporting business performance and organisational resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and develop innovative ideas and solutions that align with VMIA’s strategic priorities and deliver value to clients and stakeholders.
• Apply design thinking and problem‑framing techniques to uncover opportunities and address complex business challenges.
• Conduct research, trend analysis and environmental scanning to identify emerging risks, opportunities and best practices.
• Facilitate innovation workshops, ideation sessions and design sprints to generate, refine and prioritise new ideas.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, validate concepts and ensure solutions meet business needs.
• Design and execute experiments, pilots and proof‑of‑concepts to test assumptions, measure impact and inform decision‑making.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on innovation initiatives, providing recommendations to scale, pivot, pause or discontinue solutions.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of VMIA’s innovation frameworks, processes and tools.
• Support the development of innovation capability across the organisation through training, resources, workshops and events.
• Assist with governance, reporting, risk management and compliance activities relating to innovation initiatives.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and high‑performing workplace culture aligned with VMIA’s values and behaviours.

Who you work with

You will be a valued member of the Innovation Team within the Innovation and Projects Office, working as part of multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions across VMIA. You will collaborate closely with leaders, subject matter experts and business teams to identify opportunities, solve challenges and drive continuous improvement. The role requires strong engagement with a broad range of internal stakeholders, clients and external partners, enabling you to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes across the organisation.

What we are looking for

• An enthusiastic innovation professional with experience delivering innovation, design, transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of design thinking, human‑centred design, innovation frameworks and experimentation methodologies.
• The ability to synthesise qualitative and quantitative data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
• Experience designing and running pilots, experiments or proof‑of‑concepts to validate ideas and drive outcomes.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in agile, cross‑functional environments.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the confidence to navigate ambiguity and complexity.
• A commitment to fostering innovation, learning and continuous improvement across teams.
• Demonstrated capability in client engagement, communicating with impact, and driving innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

A qualification in innovation, design, business analysis, information systems or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Minimum five years’ experience in innovation, design, transformation or related roles, ideally within complex or regulated environments.

Demonstrated experience leading discovery, ideation, prototyping and innovation delivery activities.

Professional certifications in innovation, design thinking, business analysis, project management or programme management will be highly regarded.
