Overview

In this role you protect workforce health by identifying and controlling occupational exposure risks in a complex industrial setting. You will drive the Industrial Hygiene Annual Plan, deliver monitoring and risk assessments, and translate data into actionable health improvements. As a trusted advisor, you’ll collaborate with operations, health professionals, and emergency teams to shape hygiene practices across the UK and contribute to global health initiatives.

You’ll lead continuous improvement in equipment, methods, and standards, delivering meaningful health outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Protect and enhance worker health by identifying, assessing, and controlling exposure risks across a complex industrial environment
  • Deliver and continuously improve the Industrial Hygiene Annual Plan with high-quality monitoring and risk assessments
  • Apply specialist expertise in exposure monitoring, noise assessment, ventilation evaluation, and hazard recognition to support decision-making
  • Generate actionable insights from IH data to drive evidence-based health risk improvements
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor, collaborating with operational leadership, health professionals, and emergency response teams
  • Maintain excellence in IH equipment, laboratory operations, and monitoring methodologies
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation in occupational health programmes and standards across the UK
  • Contribute to regional and global health initiatives shaping best practices for worker health worldwide
Key requirements
  • Professional membership of BOHS or equivalent internationally recognized occupational hygiene organization
  • Experience in occupational exposure assessment, industrial hygiene monitoring, and health risk management
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to translate technical information into actionable recommendations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all organizational levels
  • Experience managing and interpreting exposure data to support evidence-based decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management systems
  • Proactive and collaborative approach balancing independent work and cross-functional teamwork
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and advancing best practices in occupational hygiene
