Job Summary Reporting to the Manager of Provincial Cancer Referral and Navigation, and supported by the Director of Community Oncology Program, the Indigenous Nurse Navigator is a healthcare professional that will enhance patient outcomes and experience by facilitating culturally safe, trauma‑informed care and access to cancer care services and resources for First Nations, Métis and Inuit people with cancer. The role will provide person‑centered guidance and support, promote self‑management, and empower Indigenous patients and families throughout the cancer experience at CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB). The Indigenous Nurse Navigator will work within scope of practice, SOPs, directives and guidelines to support patients.

Responsibilities include case management and comprehensive assessment, addressing physical, psychosocial, emotional, and practical needs, and guiding patients through the healthcare system by creating individualized plans. The position also involves facilitating access to supportive services, appropriate referrals, and specialist care such as Medical Oncology and Hematology, and helping to advance health equity at service delivery and system levels. Experience Must be of Indigenous ancestry. Completion of an oncology‑related program or willingness to complete a recommended course within 12 months of appointment.

Completion of a recognized Patient Navigation Course or willingness to complete within 12 months of appointment. Professional experience caring for patients and families with cancer or related chronic conditions. Experience with community or public health health‑care delivery and/or case management.

Experience working with equity‑deserving communities. Understanding of and experience with adult education principles. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Ability to speak an Indigenous language. Ability to speak French. Skills and Abilities Knowledge or experience with federal and provincial health‑benefit programs and/or Indigenous benefit programs.

Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships. Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM). Physical Demands and Working Conditions Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required.

Primary work location will be CCMB McCharles site; occasional work from home may be permitted with planning. Position may require travel within Winnipeg and to other CCMB sites and Indigenous communities. Other Must have a satisfactory employment record.
