Job Description
Join our team as a Hepatology Specialist Nurse at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. The role involves working closely with consultant hepatologists and becoming an integral part of the hepatology nursing team, with some cross‑site working potentially required. The post holder will develop the knowledge and skills required to run nurse‑led clinics and provide advice and management of liver patients, with a keen focus on hepatitis B and C and other liver conditions. The post holder may also be trained in abdominal paracentesis as part of the Rapid Access Ascitic Drain Service. Work autonomously to deliver specialist hepatology clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patient group, based on researched‑based principles that enhance the quality of patient care. Run hepatology nurse‑led clinics and be responsible for excellent standards of nursing care to patients through planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating clinics. Manage the care pathway of patients with a specialty diagnosis by utilising high levels of clinical assessment, decision making, review and monitoring, in partnership with patients, families and the multi‑disciplinary team. Discuss relevant changes in clinical condition with consultant hepatologists and refer patients to other members of the multi‑disciplinary team as required. Provide education for patients and carers at diagnosis and throughout their care journey, including condition and treatment options, and advice on health and lifestyle activities.
Use specialist knowledge and clinical judgement to provide support and advice to patients, carers and the multi‑disciplinary team via telephone or face‑to‑face. Liaise with members of the multi‑disciplinary team and contribute to training and education to support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care. #J-18808-Ljbffr
