Reporting to the Head of Arts Faculty, this influential leadership role will drive a vibrant Drama program from Junior School to VCE, inspiring students to excel in performance, creativity and artistic expression. The successful candidate will lead curriculum, teaching and learning, staff development and co‑curricular opportunities, while fostering a collaborative, high‑performing department aligned with Girton Grammar’s commitment to excellence and evidence‑informed practice. They will also oversee the School’s flagship productions program across Junior, Middle and Senior School, creating exceptional opportunities for students to build confidence, creativity, collaboration and a lifelong passion for the performing arts.

The Opportunity\n

As Head of Department – Drama, you will:

• Lead the development and implementation of a knowledge‑rich Drama curriculum from Junior School through to VCE
\n
• Champion evidence‑informed teaching and learning practices aligned to the School’s pedagogical framework
\n
• Mentor, support and develop Drama teaching staff
\n
• Lead and direct the Senior School Production and oversee the School’s major productions program
\n
• Create meaningful performance opportunities that build student confidence, creativity and engagement
\n
• Strengthen student participation and pathways in Drama and the performing arts
\n
• Collaborate with Arts Faculty leaders to enhance creative learning opportunities across the School
\n
• Manage departmental planning, budgeting, resources and compliance requirements
\n
• Promote Drama within the School and wider Bendigo community through performances, showcases and special events
\n

You Are:\n

• An accomplished Drama educator with proven experience teaching Years 7–12, including VCE.
\n
• An inspiring leader who develops high‑performing teams and a positive department culture.
\n
• Passionate about theatre, performance and nurturing student creativity.
\n
• Skilled in curriculum leadership, assessment and evidence‑informed teaching practice.
\n
• Experienced in directing outstanding school productions and performance programs.
\n
• A strong communicator who builds authentic relationships with students, families and colleagues.
\n
• Organised, adaptable and confident leading complex projects and competing priorities.
\n
• Committed to child safety, student wellbeing and inclusive education.
\n
