Role Description
The German Tutor at Ostello is a part-time, remote role focused on delivering engaging live German language classes through the Ostello platform. In this role, the tutor designs and conducts interactive lessons for learners at various proficiency levels, including speaking, reading, writing, and listening practice. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans and materials, explaining grammar and vocabulary concepts clearly, assessing learner progress, and providing constructive feedback.
The tutor engages students in real time by answering questions, facilitating discussions, and using digital tools to make sessions dynamic and learner-centered. The role also involves maintaining accurate records of student performance, adapting teaching strategies to individual needs, and collaborating with Ostello’s team to refine course content and improve the overall learning experience.
Qualifications
- Strong command of the German language, including grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, with the ability to teach beginners to advanced learners.
- Proven experience in language teaching or tutoring, preferably in German, with skills in lesson planning and classroom (virtual) management.
- Ability to use digital tools and online teaching platforms effectively, ensuring smooth delivery of live, interactive sessions.
- Clear, empathetic communication skills and a learner-focused approach, with patience and the ability to explain complex concepts simply.
- Relevant academic background in German, Languages, Education, or a related field; teaching certifications (e.g., Goethe-Institut, TELC, or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Reliable internet connection and suitable remote working setup; comfort working independently and managing a flexible part-time schedule.
- Experience designing structured learning paths, assessments, and practice materials to support sustained language progress is beneficial.
