Financial Accountant

Job DescriptionFinancial Accountant Qualified Accountant 18-month contract Ballinasloe Co Galway. Reporting to Financial Controller, you will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting the month-end close process, and providing timely management accounts to support business decision-making. Please note candidates must be a qualified accountant.

Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports. Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all reporting deadlines are achieved. Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting. Assist with year-end audit and statutory financial reporting. Maintain strong financial controls and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Work closely with project managers and operational teams to provide financial insight into project performance. Monitor project costs, overheads, and profitability across multiple construction projects. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.

Candidate Requirements Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). Previous experience in a Financial Accountant role, ideally within the construction, engineering, or property sector. Strong experience preparing management accounts and managing month-end processes.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across finance and operational teams. Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail. Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP/accounting systems.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight reporting deadlines. Experience with construction accounting, including project costing, work-in-progress (WIP), and contract accounting. For a confidential discussion and more information on the role, please contact Noeleen Stewart.
