About the Role

The Civil Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of on-street parking infrastructure, including parking meters, meter footings, poles, signage, and associated civil works. This role supports project delivery and BAU operations across Council sites, ensuring all field activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards. This includes:

Install parking meters, including excavation and concreting of new footings.

Perform civil works such as trenching, drilling, backfilling, and surface reinstatement.

Install and replace sign poles, parking signs, and associated street furniture.

Complete line marking activities, including preparation, layout, application, and curing.

Maintenance & Repairs

Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance on parking meters and civil assets.

Repair or replace damaged poles, signs, mounts, and infrastructure.

Respond to field issues, perform diagnostics, and complete required repairs.

Ensure accurate documentation of work completed, including before/after photos.

Safety & Compliance

Adhere to WHS requirements and safe work practices at all times.

Perform worksite setup, traffic control checks, and risk assessments before commencing work.

Operate tools and machinery safely (concrete drills, compactors, saws, etc.).

Ensure compliance with Council standards, engineering drawings, and project specifications.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

Liaise professionally with internal teams, Council representatives, and contractors onsite.

Report progress, risks, delays, or resource requirements to the Project Manager.

Maintain accurate logs, work orders, and field documentation using company systems.

To join the team, you will need:

A full current Australian Driver's Licence

Strong customer service culture

Mechanical aptitude with excellent problem solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Flexibility and adaptability to evolving demands

Demonstrated ability and willingness to work independently
