MacIsaac Construction Limited (RJMI) is seeking an Environmental Specialist/Project Manager to play a key role in coordinating and advancing the environmental aspects of marine and industrial recycling and demolition projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to broader project delivery while applying and developing expertise in environmental compliance and project execution.

What you’ll do This position is intentionally structured to be flexible and scalable, allowing it to align with the successful candidate’s level of experience. At minimum, the role will focus on environmental coordination and site-based activities.

For candidates with additional qualifications and experience, there is an opportunity to take on project management responsibilities, lead environmental programs, and support complex regulatory and hazardous materials work. As part of the Operations team, the successful candidate will support and/or lead environmental aspects of marine and heavy industrial projects. Responsibilities will scale based on experience and may include: Core responsibilities Support the end-to-end delivery of environmental requirements across all projects Ensure compliance with regulatory, ISO, and client requirements Liaise with consultants and lead coordination of environmental monitoring and reporting activities, offer analysis and guidance regarding results and regulatory implications Perform onsite environmental work such as sampling, and site inspections, compile results and document opportunities for continuous improvement and any corrective actions Assist in the management of environmental incidents and stakeholder communications, ensuring timely and effective response Promote a strong culture of environmental awareness and compliance through training and on-site engagement Provide environmental oversight and reporting to leadership, supporting informed decision-making Based on experience and capability, the scope of this role may expand to include project coordination, environmental permitting and approvals, hazardous materials management, and leading the environmental workstreams of complex projects.

This may also include providing technical guidance to project teams, supporting or acting as a Qualified Person (QP) for reporting purposes, and engaging directly with clients, regulators, and other key stakeholders. Minimum qualifications Engineering technologist (CET) or degree in environmental, civil, mechanical, or related discipline Ability to perform environmental fieldwork, data collection, and reporting Strong written and oral communication abilities Excellent documentation and analysis skills Experience and assets Experience in marine, heavy civil, demolition, or industrial environments Exposure to environmental sampling, monitoring, and reporting Familiarity with environmental regulations, permits, and approvals Experience supporting project coordination or field-based project work Exposure to hazardous materials or industrial environmental programs Proficiency with Excel, drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD), project management software (e.g., Microsoft project), and GIS.

Professional designation (e.g., P.Eng.) or ability to act as a Qualified Person (QP) Additional strengths (based on experience level) Experience leading environmental components or projects or coordinating multidisciplinary teams Experience supporting regulatory reporting or engaging with clients and regulatory agencies Demonstrated experience leading the planning and execution of large-scale industrial projects, with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and cross-functional coordination in complex, high-risk environments Why this role? Work will be primarily based in Sheet Harbour , Nova Scotia at RJMI’s site in the Port of Sheet Harbour, but may require travel across the region based on the nature of active projects.
