Role Description


The English Language Teacher will deliver high-quality English language instruction to students at Southern Cross University’s Gold Coast, QLD campus in an on-site capacity. The role involves planning and teaching engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and providing constructive feedback to support language development. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing teaching materials, facilitating individual and group learning activities, and maintaining accurate records of attendance.

The teacher will collaborate with colleagues to align teaching practices with institutional standards, participate in professional development, and support a positive, inclusive classroom environment. This is a casual teaching position.


Qualifications



  • Strong English Teaching and Teaching skills, with experience delivering language instruction to diverse learners.

  • Demonstrated ability in Lesson Planning and Education practices, including designing structured, outcomes-focused lessons.

  • Excellent Communication skills, with the capacity to explain complex language concepts clearly and support student engagement.

  • Must have tertiary and a TESOL qualification from a recognised RTO. TEFL will not be accepted.

  • Experience working in higher education or pathway/ELICOS programs, including familiarity with assessment and academic integrity standards.

  • Ability to create inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments and support students from varied linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with competence in using educational technologies and learning management systems.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and alignment with university policies and quality assurance requirements.
