Electrical Design Engineer

Red Chair Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and coordinating electrical systems for specialist industrial heating, ventilation, and air filtration equipment used across a range of sectors, including industrial, medical, retail, and large commercial environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Designer looking to progress into a more client-facing coordination role, or a qualified electrician seeking to move away from hands-on work and develop a career in electrical design and project coordination.

The position is based on-site and is conveniently located within easy commuting distance of Killarney, Macroom, and Millstreet. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent communication and organisational skills and will be confident liaising with clients while coordinating projects through the design and installation process.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate electrical design projects from initial requirements through to completion.
• Produce, review, and amend electrical drawings, schematics, and circuit designs.
• Liaise directly with clients to understand project requirements and develop practical technical solutions.
• Work closely with engineers, project managers, production teams, and installation personnel to ensure designs are delivered effectively.
• Select and specify appropriate electrical components, control equipment, and associated systems.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical design and circuit-related issues.
• Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, relevant electrical standards, and practical installation requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate design changes and ensure relevant information is communicated clearly to all stakeholders.
• Assist in ensuring projects remain on schedule and that design requirements are delivered accurately and efficiently.

Skills & Experience

• A recognised qualification in Electrical Design is essential.
• Previous experience within HVAC, ventilation, industrial equipment, or a similar engineering environment is essential.
• Strong understanding of electrical design principles, circuits, and control systems.
• Ability to confidently read, interpret, and produce electrical drawings and schematics.
• Good knowledge of electrical components, control equipment, and electrical systems.
