Department Chair and Non-Tenure-Track Faculty, Nursing (Open Rank) Position Title: Department Chair and Non-Tenure-Track Faculty, Nursing (Open Rank) Position Summary The School of Education and Health Sciences seeks an innovative, collaborative, and experienced faculty and student‑centered Chairperson for the Department of Nursing. This 12‑month appointment is open‑rank faculty and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Chairperson will lead the Department of Nursing, overseeing administration, continuous improvement, and academic excellence for the School’s graduate nursing programs, including implementation of the new Master’s Entry to Nursing Practice (MENP) program.

The Chairperson supports faculty and student success in pre‑licensure, MSN licensure, and advanced‑practice programs such as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nursing Practitioner (PMHNP), Nurse Educator, and Nurse Executive Leadership masters and certificate offerings. The role involves didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction; curriculum development; accreditation support; and student mentorship. Faculty teaching responsibilities align with program needs and include pre‑licensure MSN, core courses, and advanced‑practice content.

Additional duties include fostering interprofessional education, maintaining accreditation documentation, and cultivating strong clinical partnerships. Scholarly engagement in social determinants of health, health informatics, health equity, or nursing education scholarship is particularly valued. Responsibilities Serve as senior academic and administrative leader of the Department of Nursing, collaborating with the Dean, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Provost to support departmental goals and align nursing initiatives with institutional priorities.

Support faculty professional growth, workload and teaching assignments, scholarship, recruitment, and evaluation. Provide fiscal oversight of the departmental operating budget, including forecasting, enrollment planning, and expenditure management. Teach didactic and clinical graduate nursing courses using evidence‑based strategies and technology‑enhanced learning platforms.

Follow approved course descriptions and syllabi from the Graduate Nursing Curriculum Committee and Nursing Department Faculty. Develop, revise, and implement curriculum consistent with AACN Essentials, CCNE standards, and non‑PNF standards as applicable. Model critical reflection and foster cognitive, psychomotor, and affective development of learners.

Advise students and provide consultation as needed. Provide timely, constructive, and thoughtful feedback to learners. Use course evaluations to improve instruction.

Demonstrate professional and educational values and legal/ethical precepts in all interactions. Exhibit inquiry about teaching, learning, student development, and evaluation methods. Incorporate research findings and scholarly works to enhance nursing education and practice.

Perform other leadership duties as requested by the Dean, Provost, or President. Maintain clinical certification and licensure. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students, and visitors.

Promote a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work environment and engage in opportunities to increase awareness of diversity and inclusion. Perform educational functions with high ethics, integrity, and professionalism while adhering to FERPA laws. Articulate understanding of the societal trust placed in the nursing profession, advanced practice nursing, and the student‑relationship vision of the program.

Communicate fluently in English, both orally and in writing. Salary Range $115,000 to $125,000 per year. Qualification Standards Education Earned doctoral degree in nursing or closely related field (PhD, DNP, DNSc, EdD).

Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program. Licensure & Certification Clinical certification and licensure required. Experience Minimum of two years of leadership experience in higher education within a nursing school.
